Vintage Oaks Ladies Volunteer

There have been many studies that have shown that the more seniors get out and volunteer, the better off they are. Not only do they get out of the house, but the focus is no longer on themselves, but others. This week, residents of Vintage Oaks did just that. The morning was spent at Central Christian Church helping the children's minister, Jessica Williams, get ready for the big Harvest Party held at the church on Halloween night. The Harvest Party is an alternative event to Halloween. The church provides a safe, fun and family atmosphere for children in the community who want to wear non-scary costumes, play games, eat free food and candy or just have a good time.

The Vintage Oaks ladies helped by wrapping thank you notes around candy bars for all of the volunteers for the night and stuffed goodie bag backpacks with a special note and gift for all of the children who participate. They also marked lollipop sticks and prepped other candy for some games. The work wasn't hard or very time consuming, but it was great to just get out and socialize with their neighbors. The residents always enjoy getting out and being helpful in whatever way they can.

God Bless,

Beth
