VO Volunteers for Camp Quality
When life is getting you down, try doing something for someone else. That is just what Vintage Oaks residents did this week by volunteering for Camp Quality, a summer camp and year long support system for children with cancer. Camp Quality Northwest Missouri was the first and is the oldest Camp Quality in the nation.
The residents were helping Camp Quality get prepared for their Christmas party which will be held over the weekend. There was much to do so we promptly got busy filling candy bags full of various types of candy. These bags of candy will be given to each child after they visit Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Santa's lap will be a bit sore after the day because there will be over 100 children there to see him and give him their wishes.
Once the candy bags were done, we began wrapping silverware for their dinner. We rolled the silverware in napkins and stuffed them is small stockings that each person will be allowed to take home. After all were done, we had over 250 stockings filled and ready for their wonderful meal.
The day was wonderful and really made us all appreciate that we had healthy families and grandchildren. We all realized that some of our bad days are no where near what a bad day is for one of these children with cancer and their families. So next time you get a little down and feeling sorry for yourself, reach out and help someone a little less fortunate than you, and you will soon find out that your day will be brightened and given new hope.
God Bless,
